Memory card is neat trick. Do be aware that heavy duty mailers would be
needed to both prevent damage to the memory card by automated sorting and/or
the prevent the memory card from cutting an escape path in a letter
envelope.

It sounds like the best method for exchanging pix for you and your
sister is by snail-mail. If she could go to a photo store or
Walgreens, for example, to get prints, she could send you copies. Or you could buy a memory card that fits in her camera, and send
it. She would exchange it for the full card she has and mail it to
you.
This would avoid her Win98 computer and dialup connection, and not
being able to install photo software.

I just recently had an SD memory card get squeezed out
of a letter envelop by automatic sorting machine rollers and was informed that loss contents are not recoverable
under under circumstances and learned envelops are a
very poor choice of packaging for anything other than paper.
