might also be worthwhile having IP2 installed on the
computer for future reference which will give the LAN and
WAN address. Now of course if doing istalls is the users
problem -- either teach the user or when using the vnc then
install IP2.

But if she's behind a router, all she will get is her local
IP, not her 
WAN IP. I would suggest visiting http://whatsmyip.org
instead.
