Computer drawing power when switched off?

I don't leave my computer on all the time, but switch it off at night
and if I'm not using it. I just bought this device to hook up my old
and new computer to the one monitor, keyboard and mouse. It has a
light on the connection device and on the switch to change which
computer is on the display. Those lights stay on when the computers
are off. I rang Belkin and the guy said that the computer (or the USB
ports?) still draws (?) power when it is off. Why is this? Should I
be switching off the powerboard as well as the CPUs?

When I plug in my MP3 player, it lights up because it draws power from
the USB port. When I turn off the computer, it still draws power. At
first I thought this was a problem but I remembered that a light on the
motherboard is always lit when the computer is plugged in.

What does that mean? It means that the computer is always drawing power.
If it has power, it always supplies it to the USB port. If you want the
light t go out, shut it off at the power strip.

You need to go one step more. If something is plugged into the wall
it's drawing power. If you want to make sure the computer isn't drawing
anything you'll need to unplug it from the wall.

Pure nonsense. The switch on the back of the power supply, or the switch
on the power strip will disconnect the mains AC from the computer and
absolutely NO power will be used.

By way of update, I turned the powerboard off, and my mouse would not
work. The KVM flip device obviously needs to be kept powered....
