Yes, it matters - the laser has to shine through that side and reflect
off the thin data layer under the label. Its the same way that a mirror
is made. Mirrors are not reflective on the front side that you look at -
the reflection is actually a on a thin layer on the back side of the
glass where it can't get scratched off easily.
