My PC is running way to fast. Normally I am unable to hear it at all.
But for the last couple days, it has been very loud.
My PC= DELL Dimension 3000
Intel Pentium 4
80 gb HDD, 512mb Memory
Internet Explorer 6.0
I ran a couple scans that came up empty, but I know there is something
interfearing with my system, and I am worried. I ran:
McAfee Virus Scan
Advanced Windows Care
Hijack This
Can someone Please Help me? Thank You very very much.

Mike

Unless the noise is clicking or a loud metallic crunching squealing
sound, I would open the case and examine the fans running.

Did you consult the Task Manager to see if a lot of processes were
running, perhaps more than usual, which may have put strains on the
processor and the rest of the hardware?

It's probably heat. A good cleaning is probably in order. When you
system gets hotter, the fans run faster. If you have pets, smoke, or
just have dust in general, then it doesn't take very long for the
heat sink under the processor or the fans themselves to get very
dirty very quickly.
