Recent Toshiba notebook repair. CPU heat sink was fully blocked by matted
hair and dust.
Household had a long-haired dog and hard surface floors. Hard surface floors are normally swept rather raising the long hair into the
air as opposed to a carpet that would be vacuumed.
It is the long hair that will block small cooling spaces where a fine power
will often pass through.
A cover of the air intake using a furnace filter type of material will trap
the long fibers or hair.

Here is what I use, believe it or not.
I cut a piece of wood 2x4 about 12 inches long.
Then I ripped (cut) it in half the long way so I have two pieces about
2x2 inches square and 12 inches long.
I set the laptop on those. The space between the desk and the bottom of
the laptop is enough air space to keep the laptop from overheating.
