The machine is fully capable of running the rather-aged game. The display
isn't.
Jet? What jet? It's a rather old game, albeit demanding for its age.
The only rough part is the display.
As to all I own, I own an almost-equally-aged and not much more capable
desktop that runs the game adequately, with an equally-aged CRT monitor.
The laptop is as good as the "recommended" machine in the Civ III docs,
IIRC. (There are newer versions of Civilization I don't own.)
Again, the only problem is the display on the laptop.
