laptop brand question

this is sold at bestbuy and I don't know where else

Everex - StepNote T2080 Laptop
does anyone know anything about this brand of laptop?

I see that Laptop is also sold at Walmart....currently a $100.00 cheaper
than Best Buy

You don't know anything about them but $498 is a good price? A good
price for what? A root canal? Maybe. A very poorly configured laptop?
I doubt it. First off the thing is running Vista and it only has
512MB of memory. It comes with a low end processor and a smaller harddrive.

The price is low but if you have to run right out and buy memory and an
additional external harddrive, it's not such a bargain.

Price isn't everything, especially if you're shopping at WalMart.

Yes, and be sure to get the extended warranty. In fact, insist on it.
I am collecting those "TOY&quot; laptops, as I like to call them, by the
dozens. They have no structural strength, and the first twisting of the
plastic case seems to pop a few internal connections on the motherboard,
rendering them dead. People who buy these things should start saving
for the new one they will have to buy next year to replace it.

You get what you pay for. A good new laptop still costs around $1000.00.
