ello everyone,

Got another friend's computer and found that there were over 27,ooo
virus and/or spyware, malware and trojans on the machine. So I did
the only thing that I guess was best, completely reformat the hard drive.
Well,... Trying to do a complete (clean install) of Windows XP Home
edition after this format, but the computer just seems to 'hang' at
various points during installation of XP.

At one point it hung up at the time it was copying Windows files at
7%, another time it got all the way up to 31% copied and hung.
Even on another install attempt, it just "hung up" at the point where
it asks for which partition do you want XP to be installed on.

I'm starting to think that all those viruses affected some other part
of the computer as well, even after a complete reformat of the H.D.

Any suggestions as to what can be the problem?

Thanks in advance
JW

Most of the time, this kind of problem is the result of defective RAM.
