Hi All:
We just got a Dell Dimension - it's nice. However we did
not get an XP disk, even though we paid $8.00 for it. There
was this insert that contains "to learn more about
obtaining a copy of your operating system CD or drivers for
your computer, visit support.dell.com/pcrt".
The website does not seem to exist. I've been looking all
over support.dell.com but they have hidden the area about
getting an XP disk very well.
I am not comfortable relying on windows system restore or
dell PC restore, as I have had to wipe and reinstall several
dell PCs infected with viruses and/or spyware at work. I
would rather have the disk for this computer on hand BEFORE
I need it.
Or will any dell XP Pro CD work? If yes, how do I get XP
registered properly? I have a bunch of XP Pro CD's at
work. Can I somehow use one of those on my computer at
home?
There was a computer at work I reinstalled with an XP Pro CD
with SP2 on it. It was not the CD that came from that
computer but it worked and registered ok.
Would I just use the product key on the case to register?
Thanks,
Ziffnabb
