Position: Security Consultant
Location: New York City, New York, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2007-06-30
As a Security Consultant for VeriSign you will be
responsible for performing Local and Wide Area Network
design, implementation, documentation, and support including
all aspects of architecting a network -
connectivity/protocol selection, provider selection,
routing, VPNs, and firewall connectivity by performing the
following duties for our clients within the Security
Consulting Group.
Key Responsibilities
• Works closely with the System Engineers and the
Senior Network Security Architect during day to day tasks.
• Work closely with VeriSign Managed Security
Services on firewall implementations.
• Evaluates, installs and tests systems/network
hardware and software.
• Integrates LAN/WAN and other information
systems.
• Maintains data, software, and hardware security
and emergency procedures.
• Performs analytical, technical and administrative
work in the planning, design, installation and on-going
administration of Local and Wide Area Networks.
• Installs and maintains network and/or existing
hardware and software.
• Assists department manager in ongoing assessment
and upgrading of network and telecommunications systems.
• Researches, evaluates and recommends hardware and
software for systems and helps manager plan for the future.
• Serves as troubleshooter on the most complex
Local and Wide Area Network and voice network problems.
• Other duties that are within education and
experience or the incumbent may be assigned for the
betterment of the company.
Key Requirements
• Demonstrated ability for performing network
management and documentation using industry standard network
management and documentation tools.
• Minimum of five years technical experience with
large scale IP networks.
• Multilayer switching, internal routing, HA
protocols (HSRP and others), OSPF, RIP, and STP.
• External routing protocols (BGP, eiBGP, MPLS).
• Point to Point protocols (PPP) and VoIP.
• Load Balancing (L-4 thru L-7, SSL, Methods,
GSLB).
• Strong knowledge of Foundry, Cisco, Nokia, and
Juniper equipment.
• Strong knowledge of Foundry OS, JunOS, and IOS.
• Thorough understanding of IP subnetting, VLANs,
Load Balancing, and HA architectures.
• Knowledge of network security concepts and
technologies, including but not limited to: Cisco PIX,
NetScreen ISGs, and Checkpoint firewalls.
• Extensive experience utilizing network sniffers
(Experience with Ethereal is a plus).
• Three years experience in a Data Center with *NIX
Systems and in a network operations environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
are a must. This includes the ability to use MS Visio,
PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Project.
• Proven ability to plan and manage multiple
projects in a fast-paced team environment.
• Proven experience in cross-department
communications is required.
VeriSign Business Understanding
• Ability to discuss VeriSign delivery approach on
at least two service offerings
• Able to provide the VeriSign Enterprise Pitch
• Able to identify VeriSign up-sell opportunities
and work with sales team to close

Educational Requirements
• Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience
• Minimum seven (7) years direct experience
• At least two technical certification such as
CISSP, CCNA, CCDA, CCSA, GIAC
