Speed of internet

Hi! I am Dev new to this group. I am using using a dial up internet connection of airtel via
mobile. It shows speed of 115.2 kbps after connecting but the actual speed i get is around 5
to 8 kbps. Can anybody recommend me some softwares that may increase the speed of my
net....

The 115kbps is for your uart (serial controller) the 5 to 8 is kBps,
bytes, rather than bit per second. With a modem onnection, that's
about all you'll get. As for software, the only thing I'd recommend is
a download manager, like download accelerator pro
(http://www.speedbit.com), which will resume broken downloads, if the
host server supports it for the file you're getting.
