I did the chipset last night, along with the Nvidia..nothing
has changed. I did find an error message that said the volume for C: had
been reset since it was identical to
J: NO
DUH!!
I also unplugged the (1) HD,
rebooted..shutdown..connected..rebooted..nada. Still the same. No
raid. I even changed the boot sequence back in CMOS, to onboard/cd rom
instead of onboard/usb..nada. I still have two HD's. I may have to
take the second one out and make it a slave. But I'm still trying to
figure out how to get my c: drive to be recognized as a WD*******, it's still
coming up as "disk drive" and j: is coming up as WD*****.
Aaargh.
I may try uninstalling the drivers for c: and then
rebooting..??? I dunno!

Dunno....... pull the power on the other drive (ie: reverse
the drives
you're try to boot to ????
The re-detection thing may work too?
Changing Drive ltrs in Disk Management...
you might right click on J and change Drive Letter to see
what kind of
screaming you get ???
If you actually change the letter there it may create Path
problems that
you could never clean up?
The Repair option is still available but I don't know what
that would do
to the Raid setup. The Repair replaces Windows files and
wipes out MS
updates plus IE7 if installed.
I ran it on this 64 bit system where it replaced all the
Windows files
and reinstalled IE6, which was screwed up. I reinstalled IE7
and now
everything is hinky dinky.
I recall some advice from my student days.......... when you
run out of
airspeed, altitude, and ideas.............
simultaneously........... you are about to crash and burn!
I don't know what you have left?

I was thinking about this yesterday and I would strongly
advise NOT to
change the lettering and I would stay away from the disk
manager because
I recalled that when I was running raid, the disk manager
DID show two
drives, but I had a RAID 0 setup. So this might be the case
with Jackie.
I would NOT change the lettering for the reason you stated
because
remember, with a RAID 1, everything is duplicated and it
will probably
screw things up worse.
Also, what about the RAID drivers? The drivers is what
handles the RAID
within Windows. Also, is there a repair function in the
BIOS? (I would
backup important stuff before trying this option) Also, I
was having
shutting down problems yesterday as well. Had something to
do with
Windows (or the BIOS) waiting for a signal to or from (maybe
both) the
hard drive(s)

She has installed new chipset and RAID drivers and no
improvement.
I have no ideas left with the exception of FDISK the hell
out of it and
Jackie won't go along with that. She's stubborn that way?
