I just installed this into Firefox..easy to do, just download the file onto your desktop, open firefox, go into tools/addon's and drag the file onto that screen, it then asks to install it..and voila you're done. ; It blocks malicious script by only allowing sites you know and use.  Seems there is some kind of script problems in firefox and others I guess...and this blocks malicious scripting which attempts to either read your cookies..or hijack your browser?  Either way..I thought it was pretty neat.

I tried this add-on several months ago. I gave it a couple of weeks, but found it very annoying. You really can't enjoy the eye candy [functional aspects] built into websites without scripts.

I did exactly the same thing. It gets to a point where you
have to take
some chance or just give it up.

Love it. I really hate to have to go back and use a PC. The
more I use
it the more I like it. I can do (almost) everything with the
Mac.

I do miss a couple of things that I cannot get to work. I
have a Palm
Tungsten, and I've tried and tried, but it will not sync.
I've simply
stopped using it. I'm not crazy about iCal on the Mac. It
looked a whole
lot better on Linux. I've started using gcal.

Incidentally, I use NeoOffice. It does everything I want it
to do, and
its free. Apple iWork reminded me of a watered down MS
Works.

If there is anything I don't like, its that a lot of
applications are
really dumbed down. Example, very little choice for web
development
software. Either its way too childish (can't edit code) or
use a text
editor. Dreamweaver seems to be all that's available for
serious work,
and it costs a fortune.

Most of the little apps I used on a PC I find were not
really necessary
anyway, although some were handy. EverNote is one example.
There is
probably something similar, but I haven't found it.

I think the Mac is much more productive than a PC. I find I
get things
done faster, and I still feel like something is left to do.
Like Linux,
one of the greatest things is not having to deal with
antivirus,
spyware, etc.

I just installed QuickSilver. Still learning to use it. What
a program!
Nothing for a PC like this. Haven't figured out how to open
a
document/file yet. It wants to default to a URL or
application. This is
going to take some time, but talk about productive.

Bottom line, this is the computer for me, period. I'd be
lost without it
now.

About a virtual machine - Parallels or VMware?? Still
thinking about that.

Hal,
Nice write up. Have you tried iSync. It will sync up your
Tungsten. I used
it to sync up my Treo in the past. iWork is a nice suite.
Keynote is by far
the best presentation software. Quicksilver is a great app!
You need to play
with the plug-ins feature to get your docs to open. There is
an app called
Launchy that I use on all of my PC's now, http://www.launchy.net/
Productivity goes up tremendously when you use and apps like
Quicksilver /
Launchy.

I would go with Fusion [VMWare for the MAC]. It's much
faster, plus you can
dedicate cores, especially is you have a quad-core machine.
Plus, you can
port VMWARE sessions between PC & MAC. I've actually
used Converter to take
my older Desktops running Windows and make them virtual.
Saves on space and
power.

Have you found any OS X related mailing lists / forums that
are worth
following?

I use it to start programs and start/stop music within
iTunes. I rarely go
into Applications, and I only have 3 icons. [ One for
internal HD and the
other 2 are external drives.]
