Thread: Source for copyright statistics?

Source for copyright statistics?

I am seeking a source for estimates of the number of
copyright and related
lawsuits filed in the United States. More specifically, I
am interested in
the number of lawsuits filed in the media and entertainment
industries. (I
am defining media very broadly to include artwork, music,
film, television
programming, books, and websites.)

I am also seeking estimates that tally the number of people
in the US who
are producing media for profit (or at least with the hope of
profit). Same
broad definition of media.

Thanks in advance for any helpful leads.

Back in 1995, there was something with the cornell law
school that
had a very rich database of stuff pertaining to copyright
law. I was
able to pull out some results on the number of copyright
lawsuits,
the types of plaintiffs, the likelihood of various judgments
and the
financial penalties assessed (in those days, as I recall ,
the
average penalty was around $600,000). It was, as I recall,
pretty easy to use.

A link to the former site can be found at
http
://www.law.cornell.edu/focus/statistics.html
though the site itself seems to have moved sometime since
1995 (can
you imagine that?)

Armed with the information at the referring page, however,
and with
google, one might be able to track down its new home. If
someone
finds it, I'd be interested as well.
