comment spam

I am getting comment spam on my site - entries filled with
links to web sites
offering the usual crap.

How can I prevent this? I do not want to turn off comments -
they fill my blogs
with very nice conversations.

Sorry if this has been answered before - found nothing/I am
a newbie.
