Hi everybody

Just a quick reminder that suggestions for the Artists in Residence program for the iSummit 07 will need to be completed by MONDAY 12 FEBRUARY.

Suggestions can be made at http://wiki.icommons.org/index.php/Artists_in_Residence

Many thanks to those who have already added to this page!

For more information on the program, please see: http://icommons.org/2007/02/05/artists-in-residence-program-launched-for-isummit-07/

Kind regards,

Daniela

Samuel and others, do you think it would strengthen
proposals to make
some type of proposal for what to do? I think more details
is a good
thing...

More information, transparent selection criteria, and/or an
proposal-based application will help the artists highlight
their
particular strengths with regard to the goals of the
residency.

I am thinking especially of artists who could make strong
contributions to the Summit but may not be familiar with the
iCommons
community.

A first step would be if members of the iCommons community (and whoever else is interested) would be willing to review the suggested artists and provide feedback.

I've formatted the discussion page for better provision of commentary here: http://wiki.icommons.org/index.php/Talk:Artists_in_Residence

Excited to check out artists doing cool things in this field,

Elizabeth

Oh sorry, that's because I manually did it and someone must have added an artist since. Ideally we'd ask someone to also add their info to the discussion page? Or maybe there's a better way to do it?

Maybe we should just have the commentary on the main page?

Any suggestions?

I think adding these thoughts to that wiki page will help since the

I think though that people proposing a project and linking to that would

Really excited to see the page fill out with many very talented artists. I think it could also serve as a resource for artists doing interesting work in this field.

I agree about extending the deadline since the discussion surrounding this has only started. And any suggestions for Croatian artists would be great as well.

I updated the page format a bit, with artist-discussions inline and general ideas on the talk page. ; There are no croatian artists yet... at least not listed there. I assume some of the local organizers have their own ideas; could they be convinced to use the wiki as well? It would be nice if all of the artists selected at least showed up on the selection/discussion page.

As for the deadline... since discussion and contribution just really got started on that page, is there any way it could be pushed back?

What we really need is an iCommons representative to explain
the
purpose for bringing these artists to the Summit. Depending
on who is
selected, I can imagine several ways that they may provide
valuable
contributions. For example,

- Providing an 'on the ground' perspective to conversations
about
creative communities
- Lending legitimacy to the Commons movement in the eyes of
contemporary arts communities
- Bringing the language of the Commons back to their
communities
- Performing at parties, exhibiting in gathering spaces
- Creating artifacts from the summit
