Announcing the iaxclient 2.1 branch and 2.1beta1 release

Hello all,

The Iaxclient Team is proud to announce the creation of the
2.1  
stable branch and the release of iaxclient-2.1beta1, the
first bundle  
in the 2.1 series.  The highlights of this branch include:

- New video code, based on libvidcap, that supports plug and
play  
video device detection and selection. New API changes to
support this  
functionality.
- Support for the latest Speex (1.2beta3) and Theora
(1.0beta2)  
releases (these are actually requirements, iaxclient might
not  
compile with earlier versions).
- New simpleclient application that can be used to implement
 
automated stresstesting (called stresstest, obviously).
- Universal video frame slicer/assembler as opposed to
codec-specific  
implementation.
- Doxygen documentation for the public API.
- Ability to build without video support.
- Numerous bugfixes.

Depending on field reports, we plan on releasing a RC in
about two  
weeks, followed by a final 2.1.0 release two weeks after
that.  Of  
course, if major issues are uncovered, we will do another
beta/RC  
cycle, and stretch the schedule accordingly.  Also, please
note that,  
as of now, trunk is open for new developments and we only
recommend  
it for people that enjoy living on the edge.  The
recommended stable  
branch for production use is still 2.0, but we encourage
everybody to  
try 2.1 out and to report any problems or issues that are  
encountered.  Once 2.1 exits beta/RC stage, it will become
the  
official stable branch and 2.0 will enter maintenance mode,
with only  
critical bugfixes being applied to it.

We would also like to express our thanks to everybody who
contributed  
to Iaxclient, either by submitting patches, finding and
reporting  
bugs or offering comments.  It is because of you that we are
able to  
do this release today.

Confirmed. Current trunk and branch 2.1 compile fine with
speex 1.2beta3.

But shouldn't --without-video disable also using vidcap?
In current version it's required to use --without-video
--without-vidcap 
to compile without video at all.
