After some minutes of operation, I have some 80 defunct
process (out of
100) of dbmail-imapd. It does not seem happen when I connect
my e-mail
client (thunderbird), but it happens at some point soon
after, possibly
when the local LAN users begin to connect.

What does this mean, and can it be prevented?

after a few days at home i am seeing the same thing
built from svn a few days ago. Initally when i was just
bashing around
in thunderbird it would lock up (timeout errors) but i ran
it through
imapproxy and it seemed to stop that, however i now have 31
dbmail-imapd
processes with 2 active clients.

I set logging to level5 but I didn't see anything saying
"help me" in
big letters when i was hitting the server hard in
thunderbird.

I can login with thunderbird but afterward there are
hundreds of
processes(some zombies) and then I get mysql connection
errors in the log,
and eventually Fedora 5 freezes.

This was happening with version 2.0.10 after I updated a lot
of packages on
Fedora Core 5 for other reasons, so I upgraded to dbmail
2.2.2 and it does
the same thing.

Prior to the package upgrade dbmail worked for 2-3 weeks, no
problem.

Jim,

What versions are you running now for:

libmysqlclient
libglib2
libgmime2
glibc6

Is anyone else running dbmail_2_2_branch on fedora-5?

Other than that: are you seeing any errors being logged by
dbmail at all?

update:

all you dbmail_2_2_branch testers: please update and
rebuild. I've fixed
a problem in the imap code today that was causing this.
