Thread: migration from Cyrus+LDAP to DBMail+LDAP+MySQL

migration from Cyrus+LDAP to DBMail+LDAP+MySQL

Hello !

I need some help with $Subj. I succesfully installed dbmail
2.1 +LDAP
+Mysql on my debian box (testing). Now I want to migrate my
Cyrus-Mail
accounts (configured with LDAP) to dbmail-mysql database.

LDAP migration / configuration was not the problem. I just
configured
dbmail [LDAP] section to point to my LDAP existing accounts.
It is
working perfectly.

But now I have to create MySql-records for my *existing*
LDAP accounts.
I found only one tool to create *new* dbmail-accounts -
dbmail-users.
But if I do understand it correctly - with this tool I can
only *create*
new accounts.

My question is - can I somehow only create MySQL-records
without
creating new users ? In my case - I need for existing LDAP
accounts only
appropriate mysql records (INBOX, etc.). Is there any tool /
option to
do this or do I have to write my own SQL migration tool ? :(

Thank you in advance for any help ...

Best regards,

Lubos

No need. Shadow entries will be created automatically as
required by
delivery.

Just inject email into the database for whatever user you
which to test
this on.

Wow !
nice ! *created on the fly* I tried
first to connect to POP3
server, but I was only disconnected with some error messages
in the log.
Now I tried to send a mail to my test account, and - hey !
it really
works

thank you for your help !

IMHO - such things should be in the docu ;) dbmail is quite
interesting
but without good docu - it is only for experienced admins...
maybe I
will write some HowTo's, the only problem is my terrible
english ... ;)

Lubos

P.S.: I plan to migrate cyrus accounts using imapsync tool.
do you have
any better idea ?

Feel free to submit your howto to the wiki. Someone else
will benifit from them,
even when your english is no good.

What kind of mailbox type does cyrus use? mailbox2dbmail
supports quite a few
out of the box.
