hi, list

I just did little 3-node LBL cluster for some network
services and
especially for dbmail. each node is domU on separate xen
server with
1024M RAM and 2 VCPUs. all this stuff is loadbalancing by
LVS (which
live in separate domU too) and healthchecking by keepalived.
works
great. I think (but not sure), that separating dbmail on
different VMs
(even if you have only one physical server) is good idea,
until dbmail
team will not implement multi-foo architecture. I do not
strict tests
yet, but users said, that LBLed dbmail shows damn better
robustness.
more taste things it's connection persistence which
providing by LVS and
highly decreased annoying "opening folder..."
pauses (thunderbird's
"feature"), high availability and better hardware
utilization. if
anybody interesting, I'll post howto to wiki.

alexander

p.s. I believe that LBL advantages will works only if you
have powerful
DB server

I'm interested, but not sure if this can really work stable.
How can it
be without database support?

hi, Michael

database loadbalancing or (and) high availability it's
separate task. I
did HA for DB with linuxHA project

OK, I'm very interested in this. How is HA achieved? It's a

active-standby strategy, right? Because if two or more
PostgreSQL
servers would be active, it would be load balancing.

I want to do an active-standby configuration to another
server in
another city, to have HA, so your concept interests me a
lot.
