OK, small dbmail problem big debian problem.
I link the dbmail source into the sources.list but it's not
able to
identify the 2.2.6 version.

-- for now I just downloaded the .debs directly.

Now I have a big dbmail problem.
the 2.2.6 packages are for i386 and I'm unable to install
them:
dpkg: error processing dbmail_2.2.6-2_i386.deb (--install):
package architecture (i386) does not match system (amd64)
dpkg: error processing dbmail-pgsql_2.2.6-2_i386.deb
(--install):
package architecture (i386) does not match system (amd64)
Errors were encountered while processing:
dbmail_2.2.6-2_i386.deb
dbmail-pgsql_2.2.6-2_i386.deb

And I don't see any amd64 packages on the site.

One option is to compile my own. I'm inclined to avoid this
since I
don't want this box to become something with a group of
exceptions at
the core of the package management. My experience has been
that this
results in a variety of upgrade issues, like I do them too
late or do
something stunningly dumb.

So I'm looking at the only available option right now being
to use
the 2.2.5 from Debian.
But before I do this, I would like to make sure that my
problems with
2.2.6 aren't just be not having enough coffee this morning.

Or do I circumvent all of this via deb-src? (which I've
never tried)

Tom,

I don't maintain amd64 packages. But 2.2.6-2 is on
debian.org, so there
should be amd64 packages available.

I didn't see 2.2.6 on Debian.
I'll take another look -- do you know what stage it was on
last
(unstable, expiremental..)?

That might explain why I didn't see it the day before.
Thanks!
