No offense but unless you have hundreds and hundreds of cells (or are using an Intel 386 CPU), 0.14 secs is pretty slow.. certainly not "a flash". That's seeable by the human eye.

I just came back to the project this morning, implemented Antonis' suggestion of filling the Grid's Objects with a reference to a colour array, and it seems to be everything I need. The Grid is painted correctly in a flash (0.14 secs, to be precise)!
