BDS'06 or Delphi 2007?

I need to upgrade several fairly large Delphi 7 apps. I purchased
Borland Developer Studio'06 six months ago and I'm just getting the
time to work with it. I'm finding that, unlike previous Delphi
upgrades, a lot of the code needs changing. Most changes are required
because parameters in some VCL tools have been changed from String to
WideString and some units have been moved. I've also seen linking
problems which have forced to me to rebuild custom packages from
scratch, linking all of my units into a new package. I uninstalled
the C# personality and ran the installer to 'repair' the system and it
seems a bit more stable now.

However, I'm wondering if I should have waited for Delphi 2007 instead
of purchasing BDS. I suspect some of the problems with BDS are due to
the .NET technologies which are included. Any observations on what
I'm doing wrong or if D2007 would be better would be welcome.

It might be a good idea to visit the CodeGear Newsgroups to get some
views on this subject.

If you are not bothered about .NET then Delphi 2007 would be a good
choice. I have found it to be stable although Developer Studio with all
the patches was also fairly stable, apart from the memory leaks.
