I do have a couple of exe's that could also be used via automation. I would like to automate the registering these exe's to be done during installation of the main application (client appl.). All 'normal' users may not have administrator rights to do this and the installation is being done by an administrator.
There is already a custom installation-dll in use (written by someone else in delphi code) to handling the copying of new files to directories.
I would like to add some code within a current function that uses a findfirst and findnext to retrieve all exe's within a directory and check if they have to be registered (registration location could vary) (again). Registration should be performed if the currect registrered location is not the same as the given directory (passed to the function) or the exe found within the register has a different date than the found exe within the give directory.
Is it possible to extract via Delhi code some information from the exe (like the GUID) and with this information, find if this exe is already registered? If not, use regserver to update register information.
Is this the right way to register an exe to be used as a server?
All suggestions welcome.
