Edit a Query using TOracleDataset components

Can someon help.. how the heck can I edit a query
result.. when I check to see if the dataset component
state is NOT (in [dsedit, dsInsert]) I attempt to put
the query into edit mode.. it says I can not edit a
read-only object.. can someone please explain how to
run a query.. then attach that datasource to some
DBEdits so that I can edit the values.. would I be
better off using a DBGrid and some type of table to
edit only 5 colums..? help .....
