Here in Italy, Delphi is no longer proposed for
new programs in a serious industrial/setting:
Java, VisualStudio, C++,
a little C#; there are NO requests for experienced Delphi
programmers in Milan;
I have tried to work in Delphi here and I have 2 choices:
learn something else or emigrate;
I can't see Lazarus as a working substitute for Delphi,
given the advantages of Eclipse, Mono etc
Chrome as a plugin for VisualStudio?
- Just as well learn Java or C#: why insist on Pascal?
The current state of Borland will make little difference
in Italy, though I think it's on the right track for finishing
Delphi off completely elsewhere: it seems that the 2006
version is a VisualStudio clone with the disadvantage
that it is less widely used;
sorry to be pessimistic, but that's how it has seemed
to me for quite a while;
Kevin O'Neill
P.S. I am currently cross-training to C# which I don't like as much
as Delphi, but it does work.
