Senior Speech Application / SDK Developer

Career opportunity for a veteran speech application developer with the
desire to be in a fundamental role in a fast growing start-up with
innovative and breakthrough speech recognition technology. We are
seeking an expert speech application and speech grammar software
engineer with several years of experience in developing voice-enabled
products. The best candidate would be one who is already proficient with
speech technologies and has worked with speech recognition engines.
KEY PROGRAMMING SKILLS:
VoiceXML, C++, C#, Java, Javascript, FLEX, HTML, XML, etc.
As a Senior Speech Recognition Software Application Developer, you will
be leading a team of software developers with a mission to create the
next generation of voice enabled applications. As a key member of the
Research and Development team, you will be responsible for the
integration of the company's proprietary Automatic Speech
Recognition (ASR) engine with voice-enabled applications targeted at
mobile, internet, and in-vehicle/ telematics platforms.
Specifically, you will develop a Software Developer Kit (SDK)
incorporating our proprietary speech recognition engine used to develop
interfaces for different ASR systems and commercially used to
facilitate integration with customer applications and platforms; design
and facilitate ASR grammars for multiple languages; and design and
implement test suites for rapid evaluation of speech recognition tasks.
Responsibilities:
Maintain and enhance integration of our speech technologies. This role
requires a deep understanding of speech technologies, its terminology
and dependencies.
Develop a Software Developer Kit (SDK) incorporating our proprietary
speech recognition engine used to develop interfaces for different ASR
systems and commercially used to facilitate integration with customer
applications and platforms. This role not only requires strong skills in
speech technologies but it also requires strong skills in advanced
software engineering.
• Design and facilitate ASR grammars for multiple languages, in
particular US English, European Languages, etc.
• Design and implement test suites.
• Design and implement fast search algorithms.
• Will manage many aspects of research & development including
conversational modeling; running experiments, working with interactive
Windows-based software for experiment control, signal processing, and
data analysis; and performing graphical and statistical analysis of
extracted data.
• Help determine the speech recognition grammars and techniques for
products and projects.
• Present technology to customers and partners.
• Research and understand marketing requirements.
Qualifications & Required Skills:
• Expert in developing voice enabled applications using a
proprietary speech recognition engine and embedded engine
• Proficient with multiple programming languages (C++, C#, Java,
Javascript, FLEX, HTML, VoiceXML, XML, etc.)
• Experience programming in multi-platform environments (embedded,
Windows, Mac OS, Linux, etc.)
• Strong mathematic algorithm skills a plus
• Deep knowledge of speech recognition grammars and techniques
• Knowledge of phonetic alphabets
• Team player, self-motivated, and ability to work under minimal
supervision
• BS, BA, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering,
Computational Linguistics or equivalent. Preference for MS or PhD.
