I don't know, this is more a question to a debian
maintainers list.
I myself am working with Ubuntu (what is derived from
Debian,
so Debian as the older system should be upwards-compatible
to
Ubuntu but I don't know how much the other way around).

The probably easiest way is to compile your own Nyquist
version
either from the sources on the CMU homepage (Nyquist 3.01 is
still
downwards-compatible to Nyquist in Audacity, it's only the
manual
which has changed to the SAL notation but also Nyquist 3.01
still
understands the Lisp notation from the 2.37 manual.

In case of doubt I still must have a Nyquist 2.37 source
code
package around, what I could offer for self-compiling.

Nyquist 2.29 is the version used in Audacity (probably still
containing
the same bugs). So if you want to be 100% Audacity
compatible you
could also use Nyquist 2.29.
