Hello All, We have a Helix streaming server which has live feeds coming into it.(PUSH based for real media and 3gp & PULL based for windows media) Is there any tool which can send an alert SMS to a configured mobile number whenever any of the feeds are 'down' from the content provider. I know that we can observe this from the GUI console but this needs 24x7 monitoring which is not feasible for me. Please help me out in this. Thanks and Regards, Mustafa

There is nothing out of the box in the
helix server that can send any alerts for live connections as you are
expecting. Helix server, whenever a live stream comes in, stores the
information in Helix ServerR17;s registry. [Liveconnection.*.* under registry
root]. You can view the registry using admin credentials if you go to http://helixserverip:adminport/admin/regview.html.
There are multiple ways to achieve what
you are looking for:
Option 1:
Write a helix server plugin that watches
for changes in helix server registry. Whenever any entry under “Liveconnections”
in the registry get created or deleted, you would know that a live stream came
in or dropped out of the Helix Server respectively.
Documentation to get you started :
https://common.helixcommunity.org/nonav/2003/HCS_SDK_r5/helixsdk.htm
A registry monitor plugin is what you
would be writing if you go this way, Look in Chapter 9 – R20;Creating
a Monitor Plug-in221;
Option 2:
This is a crude way and highly *not* recommended as you would need to query
every X seconds/minutes. You can write http scripts to do what you would using
a browser to view the registry as pointed above at http://helixserverip:adminport/admin/regview.html
and watch for entries under LiveConnections
As far as sending SMS, I think it is out
of scope with respect to Helix Server. Having said that, I believe every
operator supports sending SMS to a phone number like 5555555555 by emailing to operatorsemailgateway.com">5555555555 operatorsemailgateway.com.
You can email the info from your monitor plugin.
