maximum memory allocation in server

Hi all:

The Helix Server Process Model talks about memory allocation
approach as-
"Once memory has been allocated, the server manages
that memory
and never returns it to the system".

Consider a server running with 1Gb RAM, what is the
theoretical maximum
memory that can be allocated ?

Now let's say that I upgrade the memory to 4Gb, then does
that mean,
the maximum memory that can be allocated is 4 times the
max-mem-for-1Gb ?

One can safely assume that I have only setup a Helix DNA
Server on the box.

Thanks in advance.

thanks
Saifi.
