Summary: Provision for Non-USB ADSL routers with ppoe

Initial Comment:
IPcop needs to provide provision for giving an IP
address for the router, where router is not connected
by USB. e.g. my machine uses the private ip 192.168.1.2
and the adsl router has an ip address of 192.168.1.1

The dial-up ppoe page does not give me any option to
give an IP address for the adsl router...all I get are
options to select among various usb options. I had to
remove the IPcop box and set a rudimentary iptables
firewall on my CentOS 4.2 machine and use it to connect
to ADSL directly.

This kind of adsl routers that use ethernet port to
connect to the machine are very common here in India.
In fact, the largest ISP BSNL has bought few hundred
thousand routers of this type.

This is discussed a bit by me in ipcop-devel list
Subject: HELP PL: ADSL Driver for IPcop...Huawei
SmartAX MT how to add to IPcop, Date Feb. 28, 2006

Hope the developers decide to give this a priority.

With regards.
Sanjay.
