linux_base fc4

                Dear Sir


               I own a Canon iP1600 printer and its driver
is written for
linux-32bit.i386.rpm. My box runs FreeBSD-6.1-R amd64 and l
need to set this
printer on. I've heard of downloading linux_base-fc4 but
FreeBSD-6.1-R is
short of such port and I see I will have to upgrade the
system. Is it a
correct procedure? I've heard of rpm2cpio application but
...will it be able
to extract the files and mount them?

if its "driver" as in "kernel module"
you are out of luck.. I know that Luigi
Rizzo was doing some compat layer for recompiling linux
drivers to be fbsd
drivers.. might help here
