Oh I was thinking of some IDE magic .. I know the C#
language (thankfully)
doesn't have anything like checked exceptions.

I think I discovered where I thought I read about IDE only
displaying the
relevent exceptions and it says  (paraphrasing)
"Intellisense will filter
what it displays in the Catch block to only show Exception
types".. I had
originally read that to mean it would show onloy the
exceptions that
applied, but I was wrong.

I'm afraid Adam is correct.
In the help for VS2005 professional edition, there's a
comparison of Java
and C# regarding exceptions. Part of this says (quote):

"C# does not support checked exceptions. In Java,
these are declared using
the throws keyword, to specify that a method can throw a
particular type of
exception that must be handled by the calling code. "
