Thread: Recent benchmarks of Gtk+ on DirectFB

I was curious if anyone had some recent benchmarks of Gtk+
on DirectFB
compared to Gtk+ on TinyX? We have found that on an
embedded system
that the Gtk+ and TinyX pair is quite sluggish and not as
responsive
as we would like it to be. So I am interested in learning
more about
the state of Gtk+ on DirectFB.

Hi,

There are not official benchmarks, but people normally
experience a
performance improvement when using DirectFB, especially when
there is a
hardware graphics accelerator.
GTK+ is quite well supported in DirectFB. Basically, all
your GTK+
programs that run in X will run smoothly in DirectFB.

That is very encouraging. For products that have a
hardware
accelerator, does DirectFB support OpenGL ES?

I am asking whether this has been done before for Gtk+ when
using the
DirectFB backend.
