I don't use Sir Gene here. (In game name, sorry, didn't
expect it to drift
here. You can all have a good laugh now.) I use a timer
that checks the
milliseconds elapsed against the long time to detect Speed
Gear. The only
punitive action I take is to log players out. Use of Speed
Gear can
dramatically increase the number of messages coming from a
single player.
Disconnecting them minimizes the impact to other players. So
I consider the
problem solved and banning players for it seemed a little
extreme. If you
want to discuss further, let's do it by email rather than
here. (Hey Alex,
don't pick on my players.)
