Hello all,

I cannot use my scanner HP PSC 1610 with my linux box
(gentoo-linux-2.6.17-r5).

I followed this howto : ht
tp://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Install_a_USB_scanner

I had to add my scanner in /etc/hotplug/usb/libsane.usermap

Now sane-find-scabber seems to work well but scanimage -L
does not find
the scanner.

--
tux sian # sane-find-scanner -q
found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0 [HP], product=0x4811 [PSC
1600 series])
at libusb:004:002
tux sian # scanimage -L
[gphoto2] init_gphoto2: error: serial:/dev/ttyd1 is not a
valid gphoto2
port. Use "gphoto2 --list-ports" for list.
device `test:0' is a Noname frontend-tester virtual device
device `test:1' is a Noname frontend-tester virtual device

--

Can you please help me ?

Regards

The PSC 1610 isn't supported by SANE directly. You will
need an external
backend that comes with 'hplip'. It's downloadable from
http://hplip.sourceforg
e.net/

It's also some inatallation and toubleshooting advice
there.
