How to compile only the plustek-backend

Hi and greetings,

i read some time ago a way to compile only the backend for
the plustek. 
but i didnt found this instruktion anymore.
I read the Dokus and tried to manipuilate configure,
configure.in etc. 
no way.

Can anybody help me ?

export BACKENDS="plustek"
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc
--mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info
--with-lockdir=/var/lock/sane

(i.e. for SuSE)
