This may be as much a problem with USB (which I hate with a
passion
under Windows as well) but it means I can't get sane working
with my
scanner so maybe people here can help.
I have an Epson V700 scanner and I'm running Slackware 11
with a
2.6.18.1 kernel. I also have an HP 7310 OfficeJet
all-in-one.
I seem to get a different 'answer' every time I run things
which
doesn't help but I'll try and say what works and what
doesn't work.
If I run "sane-find-scanner" as root it correctly
says:-
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x012c
[EPSON Scanner]) at libusb:7:2
I can make this work as a user by changing permissions but
I'm not
clear how to make the change 'stick'.
If I run "scanimage -L" as root it says "No
scanners were identified".
If I run "xsane" or "xscanimage" as root
they find both my scanners.
If I run "xsane" or "xscanimage" as a
user they only see the HP
all-in-one scanner.
If I run iscan (which I have installed) it says "Could
not send
command to scanner".
So how do I get this all to work consistently?
