Will sane use Firewire and, if so, what advantages are there?

Will sane 'see' my Espon V700 if I use a Firewire connection
instead
of USB?

... and if it does work what advantages will it give me?  I
assume
it's simply faster than USB 2.0 but will this actually make
anything
happen faster or will it just not load the system so much
during data
transfer?
