| Social Contract ten years on July 5 --
celebration? |

The Debian Social Contract 1.0 was ratified on July 5, 1997.
That's ten
years ago, about ten days from now. Anybody else interested
in
celebrating this a bit? What would be an appropriate way?

By spending the day arguing about whether users or free
software are the
more important priority? ;)

That would certainly be in the spirit of it.

If we lived in the matrix, the users could *be* free
software. That
would simplify things a bit.

How about we have a contest to create a Debian 'free
software' song and
release it under a DFSG license?

Then we could add it to ultrastar-ng[1] and add a mandatory
step to the NM
process where the applicant would have to register
himself/herself
singing it!

I KNOW IT'S A BIT BORING ANSWER, BUT HOW ABOUT A PRESS
RELEASE? (ABOUT 10
YEARS SC AND DEBIAN LOCAL GROUPS CELEBRATING THIS WITH BEERS
IN PUBS
WORLDWIDE...)

If you add more content then it won't be that boring and may
actually
become interesting.

ALSO, HOW ABOUT A CALL FOR *BRIEF* ESSAYS ON DDS' EXPERIENCE
OF SOCIAL
ASPECTS, ISSUES ETC. TO COLLECT TOGETHER (IN NEXT MONTHS)
INTO A BOOK UNDER
SOME FREE LICENSE?
THIS WOULD BE INTERESTING BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE DEBIAN,
AND I WOULD BE GLAD
TO TRANSLATE IT.
FURTHERMORE, IT COULD ALSO BE PRINTED ON PAPER, MAYBE
WITH THE OFFICIAL DEBIAN LOGO ON THE FRONT COVER (MAYBE ALSO
SIGNED BY
SOMEBODY ), AND
SHIPPED TO PEOPLE WHO MAKE A DONATION THROUG SPI TO THE
DEBIAN PROJECT.
