Please send the full outputs of 

ntfsresize --verbose --info /dev/hda1 

and 

ntfsinfo -v -d /dev/hda1 -i 0

Your scenario is possible if something relocated the full
$MFT into an absolutely
contiguous file to the end of your partition.

If this is the case then we should add support for this
scenario asap because
many people are in the false belief that defrag is needed
before resizing so
they may spoil what actually would just work (so far there
wasn't any such report
as yours).
