There are serious problems with "data:" URLs in
1.6.1 on Windows. We
think we've solved them for most use cases with 1.8, which
should be
out any day now. But:
- We only support "data:," followed by ascii/utf-8
text (url-
escaped), and only for text. So no images, no mime types, no
length
indicators, etc.
- The amount of testing we can do ourselves is only limited.
So if
people want to beta-test what we have now please contact me
and I'll
tell you where the binaries are. It may save us having a
1.8.1 hot on
the heels of 1.8, as happened with 1.6.
