Hi Glenn,

currently AmbulantPlayer version 1.8 plugin for Firefox on
Windows XP handles local files only. This may change in
future, however.
Right now, we are working on improving RTSP support
for media files.

There is no plugin planned for IE at this moment. The main
reason
for this is, that our Firefox plugin needs to be scriptable
and there is no way that we know of how to do this for IE.

Thank you for your interest in AmbulantPlayer.

Kees Blom.

That's nice, a port to the OLPC !

It looks like you're very close. I don't have the answer
right away,
but maybe my colleague Jack Jansen, who did the python port,
has.
He will be in next Friday, but I've CC'd him, so when he
has a change
to read his email, you may get a quicker response !

This requires a change to the python gui (using gtk). I tried 'python import ambulant'. Although the build (configure, make, install) seemed sucessful (resulting in AmbulantPlayer_gtk), this test failed (import error undefined symbol: uncompress). Do you have any suggestions?

Tony,
my first suggestion would be to try and build from the CVS tree. Both Python support and gtk support have seen quite some work over the last year (both were new for the 1.8 distribution), and especially embedding an Ambulant engine in a Python-gtk main program is something we've worked on.

So there's a good chance that any problems you're seeing with 1.8 will disappear when you use the CVS sources.
