Patti,

If you can't browse to the config page (and no tray icon visible), that usually means Spambayes is not running.  It will need to be started first.

ok, i printed step 4.21 - how do i set up spambayes and outlook express?  i got down to step 10, but on step 11 it tells me to open the spambayes configuration page at http://localhost:8880/config.  it says i can do this via the tray application, but i dont know what that is.  so i put that address into the browser and tried to search, but it came up "can not display web page".  so i am stuck on step 11.  can you explain the tray app to me?  perhaps i can continue after that.  thanks patti

What I'm trying to find out is whether you've followed the steps listed in the document at http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/faq.html#how-do-i-set-up-spambayes-and-outlook-express. If not, please load that page in a Web browser, follow the directions, and if you run into trouble, provide specific information about the problem.

Again, please reply to all when responding to this message. If you don't, I'm the only one who gets the message, which means that you only get help if I'm available, and you don't get the benefit of the experience of anyone on the list who actually uses Outlook Express.

Did you follow the directions in the second link? If so, and you ran into trouble at some point, please tell us specifically which step you had trouble with, what you did, what happened, and what you expected to happen. Without details, there's no way to help.

When you respond, please "reply to all" so everyone on the list gets your message. Personally, I can't provide any Outlook Express-specific help beyond pointing at the FAQ, since I don't use OE.
