Hi!
In libtool 2 the behaviour of the (deprecated) AC_LIB_LTDL
differs from
what it was in 1.5. It now calls AC_CONFIG_SUBDIRS which it
didn't do
previously.
I encountered this while building GNUnet on Gentoo Linux.
There I got
this message:
$ aclocal -I m4
configure.ac:44: error: `libltdl' is already registered with
AC_CONFIG_SUBDIRS.
../../lib/autoconf/status.m4:1092: AC_CONFIG_SUBDIRS is

I would assume that functions should keep their semantics so
that the
config scripts won't need to check libtool versions to
choose the right
commands. This is especially true for deprecated functions
only present
for backward compatibility like AC_LIB_LTDL. Otherwise we'll
soon need
meta-auto-tools which configure the autotools input
depending on
autotools versions and features...
I'm not subscribed to this list, but I hope this mail gets
accepted
anyway, and I'll try to keep track of the archives.
Greetings,
Martin von Gagern
