comparing against an email address

I have this reg. expression and I understand most of it but
not all of
it

"^[_a-zA-Z0-9-]+(\.[_a-zA-Z0-9-]+)*[a-zA-Z0-9-]+(\.[a-zA-Z0-9-]+)*(\.[a-z][A-Z]{2,3})$
"
it is being used to compare it against an email address,
well it fails
because some ppl have emails like myemailsub.domain.au

try finding a better e-mail reex at

http://regexlib.com/S
earch.aspx

but u should be warned that a 100% e-mail regex does not
exist in the
nature.
