Couple of things.
You can write a little script that calls phpinfo() to verify
that YAZ
was installed. Somewhere in the longish output from that
function, you
should see a confirmation that YAZ was installed.
Also, once you have run pear, you need to edit php.ini to
load the
yaz.so exension. See install instructions for PHP4 and PHP5
at
http://www.php.net/yaz
