binconfig problem

    I've downloaded libpng-1.2.10 to install it by hand in my
do-it-yourself Linux box, and I have a problem when using
"--without-binconfigs": the symlink for libpng12-config is installed
anyway. I've read the Makefile but it is a mess (like any makefile
generated by autoconf/automake) so I don't find the problem. Probably
not using "binconfigs" in Makefile.am and let "binconfigs" do the
job may work, but I'm not sure if that will avoid the target
"install-exec-hook", which is the one causing problems.
