I got that piece from the faqs and made sure the date was
accurate but
that too didn't help solve the problem. Any more
suggestions please

What server are you pointing your system to? What does
# grep serverURL= /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date
show? Do you go through a web proxy of any sort?
# grep httpProxy= /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date
Can you give us any other clues?

proxy for this
server
[rootlibrary root]# grep serverURL=
/etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date
serverURL=https://www.rhns.r

[rootlibrary root]# grep httpProxy=
/etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date

Yes, I can ping www.rhns.redhat.com and it's ok from the
server. I've
tried also installing the new certificates but that too
doesn't work.

It might not be a problem on your end. I am having a
problem logging
into RHN:
Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an
upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST
/rhn/LoginSubmit.do;jsessionid=82906AB2AF426D4C0771E639247E4
4FE.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
Additionally, a 502 Bad Gateway error was encountered while
trying to
use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
